Today I updated the system, the old Catalyst driver has been update to 8.2 .
I probably skipped few versions since I have a 8x5 screen.
After the reboot everything seemed fine, I started Quake (yep, the first) to see the effect...
The screen look like garbage, the game seems working,you can see the demo moving but the screen is messed up!
I checked my X log and I found this (EE) line:
(EE) fglrx(0): === [swlDalHelperAddCustomizeMode] === CWDDEDI_DisplayGetSetModeTimingOverride failed: 2
Does it means something?
I find pretty strange ATI, with all her flaws, released a driver with a such blatant problem.
Any idea about how to solve? Or where can I find an old version (7.12 maybe?)

7.12 stinks as well. The one from October is decent.

Allright, then where can I find that decent version? I tried navigate the package cvs but I obtained nothing.
