Problem with CJK fonts

KDE 3.5.8

I don't see kanji/hanzi in any part of the system controlled by KDE (the taskbar, character map, Amarok song titles (although I'm not sure if that's related to KDE or if it's a separate issue)), instead they appear as boxes. I do see Japanese kana.

I have DeJavu fonts installed, because I was told on IRC that these fonts had CJK support. Besides that, I can see CJK characters perfectly fine in Opera and Firefox, and they are using Bitstream Vera fonts, so I suspect there's something else I need to configure to get them to display throughout my system. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Problem with CJK fonts

I don't think dejavu fonts includes CJK
maybe you can try to install some CJK fonts or write alias in your .fonts.conf
