No DVD playback!

I wanted to watch a DVD on my laptop, but sadly it doesn't play. I tried mplayer, vlc, xine-ui, gxine and vobcopy. mplayer tries to access the disc, but stops with the error "No stream found". xine-ui suggested it is an encrypted DVD, which was confirmed by vobcopy's logs.

The groups command produces the following output: video audio optical storage scanner users.

I have gstreamer0.10-dvdread, libdvdcss, libdvdnav and libdvdread installed.

Every method I know about have been exhausted. Does anyone have an idea on how to solve my problem?

Thanks in advance.

Re: No DVD playback!

I found smplayer worked best for me, it is a frontend for mplayer that is in extra.

Re: No DVD playback!

Indeed, try mounting the DVD and see if you can get mplayer to play it that way.
