openoffice impress 2.4 problem

If I try to open something in impress it starts to open and then freezes. The only way to close it is to kill it.
All the other parts of openoffice 2.4 work fine. If I go back to 2.3 it works without any problems.

what are you trying to open. Is it a native format or a powerpoint file?

Re: openoffice impress 2.4 problem

OpenOffice might give more helpful output if you launch it from the command line. Use the command 'soffice FILENAME' where FILENAME is the name of the odp/ppt/whatever file. Hopefully, when openoffice freezes, it will give some helpful debug output.

These are the messages I get when I try to open a pps file

(process:28650): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:2242: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function

(process:28650): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed

(process:28650): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_new: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed

Re: openoffice impress 2.4 problem

It happens to me when I open *.doc and *.ppt files, with similar error messages. Downgrading to the version in extra solves the problem

Here too - got oo-base inadvertadely when I opened [testing] for some other stuff (must have been late). I wouldn't expect a peculiar mix of 2.4 and 2.3.X packages to work smoothly. So downgrade and wait.

I still have the same problem with the version from testing.

Re: openoffice impress 2.4 problem

The latest 2.4 version from testing fixed the problem.
