Xorg wont start

Hi i have installed the vesa driver for my nvidia geforce 7400 and configured xorg properly (i think) but it will not start when I type startx.
when I type startx I get:

FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.22-ARCH/modules.dep: no such file or directory
(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to load NVIDIA kernel module!
(EE) NVIDIA(0): **** Aborting ****
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

Fatal server error:
no screens found
giving up.
xinit:                Connection reset by peer (errno 104): unable to connect to X server
xinit:                No such process (errno 3): server error.

Why cant I start X with startx? how can i fix it?
