I have some problems displaying certain signs. For example instead of a Spanish 'ñ' there is displayed a box with a '?'. And if I wanna play an MP3 file which is named with a ñ in the name the player crashes.
Also, if someone writes me in Russian on Pidgin, I only get weird signs. How can I fix that?

Did you set up your locale properly in /etc/rc.conf, and /etc/locale.gen ? Did you run 'locale-gen' as root?

Now, I have uncommented all es_ES, all de_DE, all ru_RU, and all yi_US sets (as well as the en_US ones, as I use en_US.UTF8 UTF8 as my system wide locale).
Now I can display everything, it seems!
Thank you!
Can I do something about something like the following:
(03:52:48 PM) ____: çäàðîâ ßíèñ
(03:52:53 PM) ____: òû òàì?
This is from a log before the modification of locale.gen and it's Russian. Can I get it displayed properly?

Hmm, I'm not exactly sure what you are asking there..but I suspect someone more experienced than myself may be able to help you out with that.
