Can't run LaTeX :/ (texlive packages from community)

Maybe I am doing something wrongly here - I have created a tex-file. I now wan't it to get parsed by texlive. Now, what's the command for that? I remember it was latex [file], but ... there is no latex command after installing texlive-core... sad

EDIT: Geany agrees with me on that: /bin/sh: latex: command not found

If you installed texlive you need to log out completely and then and log back in -- because texlive is installed in /opt and paths needs to be updated before the system will be able to find texlive binaries.
