Trash Problems

1. When I delete some file (by clicking once on its time and hitting the Delete key on the keyboard) it doesn't show up in my ~/.Trash or under the Trash icon on the desktop.
2. When I try to drag&drop an item into the trash, I get an error saying something like "Can't copy into trash, can only move".
3. Following the advice in #2, when I try to cut&paste into the Trash on the desktop, I get "File not found error" + "The file / cannot be moved to trash".
4. When I move files to ~/.Trash manually, they DO show up under the desktop icon, and I can empty the trash using the GUI in there.

I have fam loading, like this:
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng !network netfs crond alsa acpid mysqld postgresql dhcdbd networkmanager stbd hal fam gdm)

I don't know what could be wrong... Please assist me in this matter.

Thanks.

Re: Trash Problems

If you configured nautilus to delete, then it bypasses the trash.

Re: Trash Problems

Guys I have found the problem.

I had installed XFCE alongside GNOME and GNOME was using Thunar as its file manager for some reason I don't know (and I hadn't noticed I wasn't using Nautilus!); and Thunar, as a non-default file manager for GNOME, had problems sending files to the GNOME Trash can or the ~/.Trash folder.

What I did to fix this was to remove EVERYTHING related to XFCE, and reboot the PC. Then, since I became used to Thunar's browser-like view (ie. it didn't open a new window with each folder and stuff) I have enabled that in Nautilus too.

And now I am happy big_smile

Thanks for the help offers smile
