Xfce: how to kill a stubborn application

Is there a GUI way to get a list of running applications and kill what you want?

Re: Xfce: how to kill a stubborn application

IIRC for Gnome there's the gnome-system-monitor and I am pretty sure there's an equivalent in KDE (but I don't know it's name). Personally I find htop (ncurses UI) rather useful. But I am certain that there are more apps I haven't heard of yet wink.

Edit: One should always re-read the subject before answering, sorry sad. I have used XFCE for a while but I can't remember something like a system-monitor app for XFCE on top of my head. Maybe the gnome-system-monitor fit's your needs, but I don't know how many Gnome dependencies this would pull in.

Re: Xfce: how to kill a stubborn application

In KDE the app called ksysguard, It shows system resource usage and well as GUI that should processes running w/ a nice click and kill feature. There also XKILL, which comes with X, that I don't see why you could not make into a icon clickie to kill those APPS cause you issues.

Re: Xfce: how to kill a stubborn application

install xorg-apps. this package includes the xkill application. So if a program freezes up a dialog window will come up and ask you if you wish to close the app.
