Give us your /etc/rc.conf, and output from 'lshwd'. If 'lshwd' does not help, install hwd and give us the output from hwd -e and hwd -s.
After that it should be a matter of plugging the relevant driver into MODULES= in rc.conf, defining the interface and specifying the wireless network name and key.

You are telling your card that 192.168.0.1 is its gateway, when it cannot be within that range based on the IP in your post above, which has a 192.168.2.x range IIRC.
Anyways, that should do it I think.
After that, restart the network:

Hi,
this might be a dumb suggestion, but you did install the correct firmware for the card right? I have a intel3945 card too and it connects just fine so it should be possible for you as well but you need a network applet like netcfg/netcfg2/wicd (it never worked for me just from the rc.conf, just from the /etc/network-profiles and edited the template file there) AND the correct firmware for the card:
$ sudo pacman -S iwlwifi-3945-ucode

although i agree with you that the (default by the way) setting in his rc.conf does not match properly with his eth0 dhcp address lease, since he has as /24 netmask, i really doubt if this has anything to do with his problems.
Both his interfaces are set to dhcp and will get their network information like ip-adress, netmask, nameservers and gateway settings from the DHCP server. I am positive that when he is connected through eht0 a 'netstat -nr' will show a correct gateway, i.e. his router.

well if you are sure you have loaded the firmware for your card you should be able to connect through an applet. If you already have a DE running i'd use knetworkmanager/networkmanager/wicd if you are on the CLI use netcfg/netfg2 and read the corresponding docs:

i think this is relevant... I'm working with an Intel 3945 abg (iwl3945)....If I just iwconfig AFTER ifconfig up, it works perfectly... That's just it.....

ok well I got netfcfg2 installed and I am still getting the same problem when trying to connect to a wireless network. when I do netcfg2 <profile-name> the output is:
wlan0 Failed to read scan data : Resource Temporarily unavailable
also if I iwlist wlan0 scan i get:

ow, I should (re)install the iwlwifi-3945-ucode package, this is needed firmware to get iwlwifi to work. I hope for you this solves all problems.

Also, if I sudo dhcpcd wlan0 I get:

is there anything I can do to get my wireless working?

Your driver isnt right. You need to sort that out before you can use netcfg/iwconfig or anything to configure the network.
Try the latest kernel. If that doesnt work. http://bugs.archlinux.org

well I just ran pacman -Syu and everything installed. I am not sure if I have the latest kernel since I am still getting the hang of rolling release and learning more and dont know whether it updates the kernel as well. I will check out the bugs site.

Yes, as I said, file a bug. Presuming you have the driver configured correctly, there's a problem with the driver.

great news, I created a file, /etc/modprobe.d/iwl3945 with contents:
alias wlan0 iwl3945
options iwl3945 disable_hw_scan=1 hwcrypto=1
and now I can scan for networks and connect to them. The problem is that after I connect to my network using netcfg2, if i try to ping google, it says unknownhost. how can I fix this?
