Editing /etc/rc.conf..

Hello, I've just decided to try Arch Linux after using Ubuntu for a while and well, I went through the install and surprisingly, I can't ping www.google.com like the guide showed me so I figured I need to edit some files.

Well, I used the command nano /etc/rc.conf. changed what I thought may be the problem and attempted to save, and, well, it wouldn't let me.

I've logged in as root so why can't I edit these files?

Re: Editing /etc/rc.conf..

Is the root FS mounted readonly?   I believe:

mount / -o remount,rw

Will remount it in RW mode.
