gdm = no mouse or keyboard

Hi,

I've just set up Arch and when I start gdm the keyboard and mouse don't work.  I can however ctrl+alt+F1 then stop gdm manually.

In the command line (no X running) the keyboard works fine.  I am fairly certain I have my mouse/keyboard settings correct as I used older versions of Arch on this PC with no problems.  I have a feeling that this is a gnome-related issue and not Xorg.

To set up gnome I just did pacman -S gnome gnome-extra gdm

Any ideas?

Re: gdm = no mouse or keyboard

Hmm, I just had a log at /var/log/Xorg.0.log and there is:

(II) Load module "kdb"
(WW) warning, couldn't open module kdb
(II) UnloadModule "kdb"
(EE) Failed to load module kdb (modules does not exist, 0)

There is also an error for the mouse module.

Well, lets see if I can fix it...

Re: gdm = no mouse or keyboard

my bad!

I had done an pacman -S xorg-server instead of xorg.  (Debian uses xorg-xserver).  I should have known that Arch wouldn't let me down...it never has!
