kernel panic

hello,

i'm trying to install archlinux in a old computer. Celeron 300 Mhz with 160 MB SDRAM.
when i boot with the cd, in the beginning i get a kernel panic error, some stuff saying "cache_alloc_refill" .
what's that error about?:/

Thanks in advance.
Best Regards

Re: kernel panic

Hi, check the architecture of you Celeron. Arch is i686 opimized. Perhaps thats the problem. But i have no idea about the "cache_alloc_refill" error.

Re: kernel panic

Celeron 300 (not 300A) is CPU without level 2 cache. But architecture - i686.

Re: kernel panic

success!!! big_smile

the first slot was the problem. i ran memtest and i got some errors.
i changed the memory to a different slot and the kernel panic error disappeared.

Thanks everyone. wink
