I have followed the beginers guide but i may have mad some mistakes tho english is not my first language.
If you want any of my config files you have to tell me how to get them to my other computer before i can upload them.

Umm, are starting X11/Gnome with the GDM(search wiki), or running startx(also in wiki) from the command promt after logging in. If you are running startx, make sure you have a .xinitrc in your /home/username folder that contains "exec gnome-session". To me, it looks like just X is running without a window or desktop manager loaded.

I use GDM and my .xinifrc is empty.
EDIT: i added
exec gnome-session
to my .xinifrc with no result.
EDIT2: I rebooted my computer and selected GNOME-session as session and now it works Thanks everyone

Try starting gnome without GDM. After it loads, hit ctrl-alt-f2 to return to a command prompt, log in, then try starting with startx(if startx isn't recognized, 'pacman -S xorg-xinit', just make sure the only thing in your .xinitrc that isn't commented is "exec gnome-session". Also, you could try and download a small window manager like Fluxbox and edit .xinitrc accordingly, just to see if it is Gnome specific, or something else. Hope this helps, and maybe we can get a Gnome user in here .
