FTP Install on old laptop

Hi, I'm trying an FTP installation on an old laptop, but I have a major problem:

While booting from the floppy disc I always get following error message:

Invalid session number or type of track
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:01

That´s all...

Re: FTP Install on old laptop

after alot of digging i think that the chip may be a pentium mmx ... in which case it is not i686 compatible.

Re: FTP Install on old laptop

Crux is also an i686 distro, isn't it?
Do you have a link to vector? Never heard about it.

Re: FTP Install on old laptop

look at puppy on distrowatch, it is very interesting & can be installed to a HD. Dont know about ftp install, but it is only 50M download.
Works very  well & it might suit your needs. tcl-tk was on a recent version but that got dropped, I think.
