I just wanted some suggestions. Is there too little information? Any apps you want me to add? I want to make it a great resource for everyone

I would make it wiki-like. So everyone can put his/her own favourite application...

Maybe set up some sort of voting system? We could be here for ages suggesting every single application there is, as everyone is gonna have their own preference.

Hmm...how would I choose the applications to vote with? It would be easy to make a poll..is that what you mean? Or do you mean something more complicated?

have you seen the ubuntu brain storm thing, i'm pretty sure they have released the code for it so something similar could be set up for Arch/Apps

Yeah a poll would be good. I guess you could set up a poll within each category. Though this could turn out to be just like a small scale version of this so maybe just keep it as it is, unless enough arch users are inclined to vote.

Voted the mighty Thunar, but my IP has just been displayed for all to see though Good job it's assigned by dhcp, but maybe this could be removed somehow. Some people might not like this.

Apparently, you can't remove this:

If anonymous users are allowed to vote, they will be identified by the IP address of the computer they used when they voted.

So if you don't want your IP recorded, you'll have to register

EDIT: I've made it so the IP isn't display to guests and registered users

It looks like Thunar is winning. Thunar is a great file manager IMO. So I'm all for putting it on there.

Also how long do you think the poll should go on for? Two weeks? A month? At the moment I have it for a month, but that may be too long...

Since everyone can only vote once anyway, you'll have a good representation of Arch user preferences and newcomers can easily append their vote to the ongoing poll. We'll have all time Arch user favourite apps Is it possible in drupal for a never-ending poll?

Yup! In fact, thats the default for new polls. At the moment it is set for staying forever

Also do you like the way how the apps are presented? Is it easy to find something?

If i'm being picky, the red and blue boxes on your apps pages seem to take the attention too much away from the name of the application. Maybe make the app name a little more prominant.

Well I did ask some other people and they said that the boxes stick out a bit too much. How would I change the image to make it better? At the moment, the icon is enormous. How would I make it look good and but be small?

Hmmm, not much experience on the web design front, but I would do this:

Put a key at the top for the icons. So like

Key:
'insert_terminal_icon": the command to install the program
'insert_information_icon": what the application integrates well with

Get rid of the text "Run as root/sudo" as the user is told to do so anyway if trying to pacman -S as non-root, and get rid of text "information" as the icon kind of implies that anyway.

Then you can get rid of the big red and blue boxes and just have the icons with the text directly to the right.

Finally, make the app title a slightly larger font, maybe in a colour.

I voted for others - dired. Nice poll, With enough info maybe we could add this link to the beginner's section of the wiki. This was what I needed when I started using archlinux.

I've changed the style of the "info" and changed the pacman to a nice pacman image I whipped up. Have a look at http://archux.com/content/web-browsers and tell me what you think. I'll need to change the CSS classes throughout the website now....

This is a bit irrelevent, but I'm not sure what to put on the bottom of the page. At the moment it is links to other sites and an RSS feed. What else could I put there? I was thinking maybe a "Featured Content" banner...
