Re: Fonts

I think it's just so that you don't have to run 'xorgconfig' and 'nvidia-xconfig' again to insert the fonts. Depending on where your font is located, you can also enter this into your xorg.conf:

FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/whatever"

AFAIK that should be fine, unless i'm not taking this bold 'before' seriously enough big_smile

Re: Fonts

I put the 'before' in bold because we were constantly getting forum posts from users who skipped over that step, asking why their fonts were so ugly.
You can add fonts whenever you wish, just be prepared for ugly bitmap  fonts the first time you boot into your DE/WM.

One question, I don't understand why I would have to run nvidia-xconfig to utilize the fonts in the future?

Well technically you just have to insert that 'FontPath' line into your xorg.conf for a font to be recognized (i think). If you havent edited anything in your xorg.conf manually already (if you have, you'll just lose those settings, so best to insert the FontPath line maually in this case), running xorgconfig just does this automatically for you. I mentioned nvidia-xconfig because after running xorgconfig, the settings set by nvidia-xconfig are reset.
