Webcam issues

Hi,

I am not able to make my web cam work under skype, skype detects my webcam ok but when I click "test" in the options it shows me nothing except a black screen.

Also, I was wondring how to increase brightness of my webcam..the video looks a bit dark in normal light.

What is your webcam? What module are you using? Does it work under xawtv or another program?

Skype might detect a webcam simply because it makes itself known as such a device, but if no fitting driver is installed you won't get any picture. At least that's how it works according to my experience.

What webcam do you have and what fitting driver is installed?

Sorry for not responding soon.
It has started working by itself. I don't remember changing anything.

When using debian my webcam only showed as black in skype but when I made a call it was working!

Now I see images even before I make a call, after clicking the test button in options dialog box.
