foxytunes: no players found

anyone have success with the foxytunes extension? i'm getting the "no players found, check installation" message in the select player menu.

also, mplayer seems to have taken over playback of .pls streams from bmp. very annoying, because the plugin takes over the current browser window instead of just loading in the standalone player like it used to do. i tried the ff mediaplayer connectivity plugin, but it didn't work. how can i change that back? thanks

i think it must be an X thing, since upgrading to xorg 7.0.

Re: foxytunes: no players found

Are you getting a segfault the first time you try and open firefox after installing foxytunes?
This is what happened to me as well as quite a few others, as you can see here: http://www.foxytunes.org/firefox/forums … 6&start=45
it seems like a bug that has yet to be resolved.

Re: foxytunes: no players found

In that case I don't know. The forum I linked to seems to have a few workarounds suggested by the author, but in my case the initial segfault problem doesn't seem to have a resolution.

It would be a nice extension too if I could get it to work. Wouldn't have to scramble around to minimize firefox when a song came on that I didn't feel like listening to.

Edit: I got it working by using the 1.3.5 beta

Re: foxytunes: no players found

I got it working for a while, but somewhere along the line it stopped working again and I lost interest in using it. I have a feeling that by using mozilla's standard firefox installer instead of Arch's package you may be able to get it to work, I remember seeing something like that somewhere.

Using keybindings (if your window manager & music player allows for it) has been faster and easier for me to switch songs while browsing anyway.

I also have this bug, I think it's 64-bit related... Something with libstdc++ if I read it correctly... This is a major bugger for me, as was my most used "frontend" for MPD, oh well...
