Archlinux + liveUSB + guide = ermm

hey folks,

well messing around arch wiki I found couple guides on how-to get archlinux live cd to live usb, but does anyone has a successful story about it?

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Usb … ch_Install
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ins … _USB_stick

And btw, does FAUNOS allows me to build a system like Arch?

Re: Archlinux + liveUSB + guide = ermm

The links you posted concern with *installing* archlinux using the *install cd* (copied to usb). It's not really a live cd in a sense that you don't get an usable system after booting just it. It is designed just to perform an install to hard drive.

FaunOS *is* archlinux, in a sense that it's a specifically configured archlinux system, as far as I understand. No building required.

EDIT: Ah, I forgot to say that yes, I have been succesful with installing arch off of a USB stick following one of those guides.

FaunOS is archlinux based and loads from flash USB.

It loads ~600 packages of archlinux and includes pacman and aufs.

It requires at least 1GB of flash to install but is best installed to 2GB to allow for added data items.  It has a minimal  number of items to address at install time.  These include rc.conf, alsa, perhaps /etc/rc.local.

The system include hardware detect and wicd.

The latest release is called stable.

Check it out on Faunos.com and search the forums for more data.

It loads all packages at first instance, no need to use pacman to build the system.  Kde is DE by default.  Others can be implemented.

Check it out!
