So I'm running KDEmod and letting that automount my flash drives and such, but I accidentally knocked out my usb drive, and now despite restarts of the computer, stopping and starting hal and dbus, etc., I can't get Arch to detect when media is plugged into my usb drives. lsusb doesn't list the device, and dmesg doesn't indicate that anything is happening.
Any ideas?

Maybe a silly question but have you tried attaching the device to a different USB port. I had a problem nearly the same. I kicked out a USB cable and it wouldn't work after that. Thinking the cable was damaged I went and purchased a new one only to find that also didn't work, turned out that the USB port itself was damaged. Lucky I have a couple of spare ports at the back of the box so no great loss.

yeah, i tried every usb port... all my flash drives don't work, but my usb mouse and keyboard do...
i don't think it's an ntfs reading problem because i dual boot with win xp (for games) and arch can read and write to that perfectly.

reinstalled usbutils, reinstalled kernel26, and eventually got my usb drives to mount again...
the one i pulled out still doesn't; i'm going to see if it can maybe be reformatted.
problem solved, though.
