Gnormalize-unable to convert audio-Solved

I was trying to convert my 128 kbps audio books to somewhat lesser bitrate mp3 (mp3 to mp3) to save space using gnormalize, but no matter what config I select, it says "dependence not satisfied!"

Here is what gnormalize generates on startup:

Can't find "oggenc" in executable path. The output can't be "ogg" format.
Can't find "mppenc" in executable path. The output can't be "mpc" format.
Can't find "mac" in executable path. The output can't be "ape" format.
Can't find "normalize" in executable path. The wav files can't be normalized.
Can't find "oggdec" in executable path. The input can't be "ogg" format.
Can't find "mppdec" in executable path. The input can't be "mpc" format.
Can't find "vorbiscomment" in executable path.

No mp3 info, install the perl module "MP3::Info".Can't find "ogg123" in executable path. OGG files can't be played!
Can't find "play" in executable path. APE files can't be played!
Can't find "amixer" in executable path. Can not set volume level!

Has anybody else faced such problem Or is there any other application to easily convert mp3 to lesser bitrate ones.

Re: Gnormalize-unable to convert audio-Solved

When installing gnormalize pacman prints this:

==> Additional file formats and functions can be added through optional packages.
==> File formats support:
     * faac (full MP4 format)
     * flac (FLAC encoding, FLAC playing in conjunction with mplayer)
     * lame (MP3 encoding)
     * mac (full Monkey's Audio Codec support)
     * mpg321 (MP3 playing)
     * mplayer (FLAC/WAV playing)
     * musepack-tools (full Musepack support)
     * perl-mp3-info (MP3 ID3 tags)
     * vorbis-tools (full OGG Vorbis support)
==> Additional functions:
     * cdcd (CD playing)
     * cdparanoia or cdrkit (CD ripping)
     * normalize (sound normalization)

To do what you want, you need to install lameperl-mp3-info and maybe normalize

Pacman -S lame perl-mp3-info normalize

I hope that helpes.

Peace,
C

Re: Gnormalize-unable to convert audio-Solved

Is there any documentation describing what encode quality, frequency, variable, mode (joint stereo, stereo) etc, means. Apparently, gnormalize does not any help in this regard.
