password question for yaourt

I've installed a few things with yaourt already as user like google earth.
I was asked for my password each time.
Each time I had to use my root password to complete the install.
I'm tring to install the game drod.
The package downloads and builds.
When it's ready to install, it asks for my password.
I have tried using my user as well as root password and they are both rejected.
What's up with that?

Re: password question for yaourt

There was no error message, it simply exited back to shell.
I'm trying to run it again to print it all out here to make it better understandable, bt for some reason it's at asnails pace at the moment.
If it is or isn't succesful this time I'll post back either way.

Re: password question for yaourt

Do you have sudo set up? I'm no expert, just curious.

Re: password question for yaourt

Sorry for the delay in responding.
Sudo is installed.
The problem for me lies in the fact I'm unfamiliar with the AUR and pacman.
The game I was trying to install doesn't come with all the depends.
The same for a few others it seems.
Pacman itself was "stuck" and kept trying to install.
I had to reboot to stop pacman and ended up with db.lck.
I then had to rack my brain and google to recall how to rm -- .
Now I know.

Re: password question for yaourt

Try inserting line

YOUR_USER_NAME ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL

to your /etc/sudoers file.

Re: password question for yaourt

If you're unfamiliar with the AUR and ABS, you should by no means be using yaourt. Anyone that tells you yaourt is a substitute for learing is a fool, and we've got lots of those around here, don't listen to them, you'll just end up breaking things and wasting your time.
Check out: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ABS … _Explained , http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Build_System , http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR . IN THAT ORDER. When you understand the underlying system, you'll be much better equiped to use yaourt effectively.
