Screen/Menu glitches

Hi guys,
Ive been having a small problem lately, i cant remember when it started happening, maybe a couple of weeks/months ago, but when i click on the xfce menu or sometimes when i restore a window like firefox i get a weird effect.
I cant really describe it so i thought id post a video instead.

Its in the first few seconds when i first open the xfce menu that it happens.

The menu seems to be corrupt for a second.

Anyone any idea what might cause this?

I thought i must have messed something up, but after a fresh install its still happening.

Its nothing major it just gets really annoying lol.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Kane

Do you have compositing enabled?  That's caused some weird effects with menus for me in gnome.  But I like the shadows, so I'm keeping it enabled...

Re: Screen/Menu glitches

well, i thought id already ruled that out.

But ive just tried disabling it now again, and ive not had a problem yet.

I'll let you know if thats fixed it in a few hours.

If the composite is causing this, is there anyway i might be able to stop it, while having composite at the same time?

Thanks

I had this problem in the past, and now dont use compositing. There didn't seem to be a solution at the time and I haven't seen one since for the various users that have had this problem since, though it might be related to what graphics card you have, or even settings in xorg.conf. Some said it was due to the xorg-server being buggy. I was never a big enough fan of compositing to really pursue a solution. I had this problem in ubuntu aswell.

Re: Screen/Menu glitches

Seems like im not the only one having this problem:

I dont think they've found a fix yet.

The only reason i use composite is to run cairo-clock and the terminal annoys me when its not properly transparent tongue haha
