Which one is better to use with Arch? I've always used Gnome but I was just wondering what everyone's opinion is on which one works best with Arch.

Arch is great because there isn't a default desktop environment or window manager, so technically all are equally good.
Doesn't help you much regarding your question, but I can tell you that if you decide to use KDE, the KDEmod project is fantastic and I think most arch users who use KDE, use KDEmod as it is modular and allows more control over what you install, aswell as various other perks.

flack 2.0.6: menu-driven BASH script to easily tag FLAC files (AUR)
knock-once 1.2: BASH script to easily create/send one-time sequences for knockd (forum/AUR)

I had heard that there was a special KDE environment made specifically for Arch Linux but didn't know what it was. Thanks for the link. Since it really doesn't matter I will most likely install my norm which I stated is Gnome.

This is never a good topic. Try both. See what you like. It's really easy to uninstall one in Arch once you decide which you prefer.
To answer your question: Xfce4....or KDE.....or Gnome....or Openbox....or Fluxbox....or Ratpoison....or PekWM....or whatever you are most comfortable with....Really.

I'm sorry, I'm new. If this is a bad topic then a mod can just lock it down.

Don't worry about it! You weren't asking about what's a better DE, but what works better with arch, which is a very valid question. Other distros like say Ubuntu or Fedora, don't have as good KDE environment purely because the major development goes into the GNOME side of things. That's also one reason why I love arch so much. Not only do you get a choice at the very start, you're forced to make a choice!

I would say KDEmod but myself, I use Fluxbox which is VERY fast.

The Arch forums a fairly flame retardant so I wouldn't worry.
In answer to your question, try both and then go with what ever you feel like using. It is mostly a personal preference to which desktop you choose.

Yeah, it is. But if you'd like to experience a 3D desktop with Compiz-Fusion, you'll find you have to choose Gnome...or Xfce4...or KDE, and Gnome (or Xfce4) works better than KDE.
Am I right?

You want 3D, get Compiz + GNOME, or solely KDE(mod). KDE + Compiz will not be optimized anytime soon. If you have a hard disk bought after the year 2000, install them all.
I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

well,I am a Gnome user for years.but,in Archlinux, after hearing about kdemod,I installed kdemod and it is working perfectly.
although kde-3.5.9 is what is available(stable).
will have to wait for kde-4.2.x something to experience kde4
regarding Gnome in archlinux,I have to try that! still kdemod works perfectly!
also, anyways whatever Desktop Environment u install, even kde,u cannot dispense with gtk2+ libraries (I like kde for amaroK though, dont like the huge customization options and strict binding of kdelibs+qt apps only)

KDE Mod and Compiz-Fusion works just as well as when I ran CF in Gnome

Have you tried KDE before? You have to try it first. If you want a patched, modular KDE, try KDEmod (psst their 64bit support isn't that great) and if you want a vanilla KDE with everything unpatched and not so much fine tuning in which apps you install, regular KDE is for you. Compiz Fusion works better in Gnome, but doesn't integrate as well with KDE as Gnome. It's not really that important...

first it was gnome which i thought looked superb compared to kde 3 horriblyness, then came openbox and gnome combo which was alot better.
Then awesome won over openbox and kde4 blew gnome away. Now i wish every good app would be ported to Qt4.4's well documented technical excellence, speed and superiority...
Well maybe in few years there will be gnome3 which blows everything away again...

I do hope gnome catches up for the sake of my beloved Ubuntu, but in my opinion gnome will have to come up with something really quite special to beat KDE4. KDE also happens to have generally better applications: k3b, amarok, digikam, kopete etc (aside from ekiga maybe).
Well that's my 2 cents in the age-old KDE vs GNOME. FYI, I actually use fluxbox

Compiz always worked without problems in KDE (for me).
But i like the compositing Xfce4 provides.

KDE vs GNOME? Hmmmm.... Xfce4!

I personally like pekWM, Openbox, fluxbox, and xfce. I have them all installed, but I'm currently using pekWM.
As far as your question goes, I think gnome is a bit more lightweight that KDE. Not to say that it runs any better,
just saying that it is more in tune with arch linux's philosophy. (I think)
urxvtc / wmii / zsh / configs / onebluecat.net
Arch will not hold your hand

Xfce4 is my personal favorite. I thought about using Openbox because it was lighter, but OB plus PyPanel used 15% more RAM at startup than Xfce. Flux used a bit less RAM than Xfce, though. And I just plain found Xfce a little more intuitive (for me). But as others have said, Arch is *not* designed for any particular DE/WM. They all work very well under Arch...
