Hi!
I successfully installed Arch on my EeePC using dkite's modules. I'm now trying to get the webcam working in Skype but without success so far.
This is what I get in the console when testing the cam in the Skype options:
Skype V4L2: Could not find a suitable capture format
Skype V4L2: Could not find a suitable capture format
Starting the process...
Skype Xv: Xv ports available: 17
Skype XShm: XShm support enabled
Skype Xv: Using Xv port 86
Skype Xv: No suitable overlay format found
These are the installed packages that might be of interest:
acpid_eee 0.0.3-1
eeemodules 0.0.3-4
skype-staticqt 2.0.0.63-1
xf86-video-intel 2.2.1-2
Oh and, yes I enabled the camera with "echo 1 > /proc/acpi/asus/camera"
Any ideas what I'm missing?
Andi

Have you tried using luvcview to see if your camera can view anything at all?
luvcview -f yuv I believe, once you get it built/installed from AUR.

Took me a bit to get that compiled... looks like there's something wrong in general:
$ luvcview -f yuv
luvcview version 0.2.1
Video driver: x11
A window manager is available
video /dev/video0
Unable to set format: 22.
Init v4L2 failed !! exit fatal

Hmm when running luvcview without the -f yuv switch it does work! Any ideas what's going on here?

Got it! The solution was at http://wiki.eeeuser.com/howto:webcamdead
Turned out that I changed a BIOS option when I tried booting from my USB stick. Interesting that this setting influences the camera.
