For whom work iwlwifi and IEEE 802.11a ?

Hi,

I've a big problem with iwl3945 and my 11A-network (I have a router which supports A as well as B/G): It used to work (although not very well), but for about two months now I can't connect anymore, even without encryption. It works with ipw3945, but it fails on OpenBSD (using the same firmware image) as well. I've tried the driver in [testing] as well as the driver in [core].

The old output was:

Oct 22 22:01:05 arch64 wlan0: Initial auth_alg=0
Oct 22 22:01:05 arch64 wlan0: authenticate with AP 00:0e:8e:04:xx:xx
Oct 22 22:01:06 arch64 wlan0: authenticate with AP 00:0e:8e:04:xx:xx
Oct 22 22:01:06 arch64 wlan0: RX authentication from 00:0e:8e:04:xx:xx (alg=0 transaction=2 status=0)
Oct 22 22:01:06 arch64 wlan0: authenticated
Oct 22 22:01:06 arch64 wlan0: associate with AP 00:0e:8e:04:xx:xx
Oct 22 22:01:06 arch64 wlan0: RX AssocResp from 00:0e:8e:04:xx:xx (capab=0x11 status=0 aid=1)
Oct 22 22:01:06 arch64 wlan0: associated

Now it will fail with a time out, whilst it works fine with any 11G network and all kinds of encryption.

Nov 18 16:25:44 arch64 wlan0: Initial auth_alg=0
Nov 18 16:25:44 arch64 wlan0: authenticate with AP 00:0e:8e:04:xx:xx
Nov 18 16:25:45 arch64 wlan0: authenticate with AP 00:0e:8e:04:xx:xx
Nov 18 16:25:45 arch64 wlan0: authenticate with AP 00:0e:8e:04:xx:xx
Nov 18 16:25:45 arch64 wlan0: authentication with AP 00:0e:8e:04:xx:xx timed out

Now that the kernel .24 is close to the release, I'll be forced to use iwl3945 again. I use it currently with a G-network and it works, but there are more than 14 b/g-networks here, but not a single a-network, so I really would like to use the a-network which offers me a better reception as well.

Is there anyone who uses the iwlwifi driver successfully with an 11A-network? What's your router model? (I have a Trendnet TEW-511BRP, which is almost the same as the Linksys WRT55AG)

thanks for reading so far and any help

I'll repeat the question. I'm unhappy about using 11g, but in contrast to 11a, it works at least. Is there anyone who uses the iwlwifi driver successfully in 11a mode? I don't know if I should blame the microcode (because ipw3945 worked) or my router (because 11a doesn't work with drivers using the microcode).

Unfortunately I have no other 11a router, so I can't test, that's why I ask. It still doesn't work with my current router and iwlwifi.
