Re: Synce & Texas Instruments card reader

Hello Bola,

For your first question, following the outpup from lspci I suppose you were using the tifm module set but since kernel 2.6.20 it doesn't work properly, in fact the driver have been downgraded to version 0.7 and this version is quite buggy.
You could try to install the 0.8 from http://developer.berlios.de/projects/tifmxx, on my side I tried but could not do the make or make install. Do not know why yet, soon the kernel 2.6.22 will be out and we should not have to make the module (I hope).

If you succeed the install please tell me how you did it.

For you second question I don't have such device.

Hope this will work for you.

It seems there are a lot of improvement for tifm module in kernel 2.6.22 big_smile

Re: Synce & Texas Instruments card reader

I appear to have the same 5-in-1 card reader in my wife's HP laptop.  We're attempting to read a Memory Stick Duo (since that is what our new digital camera uses).  It worked out of the box sadly on Kubuntu.

I tried a modprobe tifm_core and tifm_7xx1 but it isn't even lighting up when I stick the memory card in.

Any suggestions?

Re: Synce & Texas Instruments card reader

I am having the same problem with my TI 5-in-1 reader too.  This one is in a Gateway NX860XL laptop.  It is even automatically probed at boot ...

[max@pwn ~]$ sudo lsmod | grep tifm_core
tifm_core 9352 1 tifm_7xx1

Re: Synce & Texas Instruments card reader

Fixed on the latest update big_smile

XFCE even shows the card with a CF card icon, awesome.
