Both my mobile and laptop are able to 'see' each other as you can see below.
But both them can link each other just for 2 or 3 seconds then loss the link.
I can not sent photos from mobile to laptop, conversely, I can sent files from laptop to mobile.
Why? And Help needed.
Thanks a lot.

^^ You can't recieve files if that thing fails.
Alternatively, you can still recieve files if you have the gnome-bluetooth package installed.
All you need to do is run the following command:
$ gnome-obex-server
Now, you should be able to recieve files from your mobile device. (Atleast it works here)

Hi, I had similar problem. No problem with sending over bluetooth from laptop to mobile (s60 v3).
No problem other laptops to discover my laptops bluetooth services, but my mobile cant discover my laptops bluetooth services.
I did some snooping and figure out, that the other laptops send service discovery request with id mask form 0 to 65535 (or something like that, sorry i havent time to make notes:( )
But the problem with my mobile was, that it send something different service request and my laptop responds like that:
hcid[21158]: Got a svc srch req
hcid[21158]: Seq type : 53
hcid[21158]: Data size : 3
hcid[21158]: Data type: 0x19
hcid[21158]: No of elements : 1
hcid[21158]: Expected count: 65535
hcid[21158]: Bytes scanned : 5
hcid[21158]: Continuation State size : 0
hcid[21158]: Match count: 0
so the mobile is not able to find the required service
I am not sure why (is it S60 issue, or it is because i run x64 system), but the solution that works for me is very simple:)
in package bluez-utils, file:
~/packages/sources/bluez-utils/src/bluez-utils-3.30$ vi sdpd/request.c
function static int service_search_req(sdp_req_t *req, sdp_buf_t *buf) // it is at line 237 for 3.30 bluez-utils package
i found that there is a loop:
for (; list && rsp_count < expected; list = list->next) {
which never execute the code inside, because of list && rsp_count < expected
simple change (in the begining of function)
//short rsp_count = 0;
uint16_t rsp_count = 0;
make the condition work right for me:)
so let me summarize:
my system is x64, a have to "patch" funcitonstatic int service_search_req in sdpd/request.c from blue-utils package
---
//short rsp_count = 0;
uint16_t rsp_count = 0;
---
so my symbian based mobile (nokia e51 s60 v3) to be able to discover my laptops bluetooth services.
so now i am able to enjoy amora (bluetooth remote control application

bluez-utils 3.31-1 already comes with that variable declaration uncommented, but I still have the same issue.

strange
just checked
http://bluez.sf.net/download/bluez-utils-3.31.tar.gz
~/delme/bluez-utils-3.31$ grep rsp_count ./sdpd/request.c
short rsp_count = 0;
please do the following after you start /etc/rc.d/bluetooth
~/delme/bluez-utils-3.31$ ps -ef | grep hcid
july 1620 29329 0 13:23 pts/12 00:00:00 grep hcid
root 21251 1 0 May14 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/hcid -s -f /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf

~/delme/bluez-utils-3.31$ su -c "/usr/sbin/hcid -n -d -s -f /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf"
and watch about:
match count

Latest update but hcid still not lasting longer than a minute.
Mitsumi USB-Bluetooth dongle version 1.1
also Kbluetooth can't last. I was happy when was working. That was about 3.12 version.

do it good first, it will be faster than do it twice the saint

I still suffer since then.
I just hope that some future version will get back working. I'm prone to buy a new bluetooth dongle. But maybe next year I' ll get a new laptop
