There's alot of XFce4 users inhere, right? I guess they are using XFce4 because of speed, what we need is a fast gtk2 non-gnome browser that fits with it.
here's one supposed to be light, uses Gecko as a rendering engine

I had packaged this, actually, and it isn't as useable as you might think.

maybe in a year, this project would be mature enough to be usable for daily use
till then, i use mozilla :-)

firefox is a good toy, if you like toys, but mozilla is a mature browser with enough addons (mozdev.org) to also be constructive, especially as webdeveloper (webdeveloper.mozdev.org) and without advanced tab-browsing on another machine, you feel imediately how handicaped you are without multizilla :-) (multizilla.mozdev.org)

it's a way too cold and too wet now, so i made a panorama of it using an IR-filter to make it look more cold :-)

ok, this code is not from firefox, but if you have the chance to choose between mozilla and firefox, why not taking the original? i tried firefox and i didnt like the non-compatibility to some mozdev-thingens i'm used to use

an alternative would be dillo, as it is very fast (not really listening to css code, but REALLY FAST!!!)
or if you want another gnome-free browser, try iexplore (depends=('wine'))
and if for speed, then have a look at elinks or lynx (try out here: http://www.delorie.com/web/lynxview.html )

My preference is for Firefox over any other browser right now, (in X at least). Lynx is probably my favorite text browser. Good mouse support and page rendering. Amazing in a console.
Back on topic, I've tried this, and, well, it sucks. It's not much faster than any other browser when optimized, and it's footprint isn't much smaller than Dillo. It's far less functional at this point and neither have anything real useful yet besides the basic tab browsing. Firefox is still the largest feature set of the browsers smaller than Mozilla.
If you develop an ear for sounds that are musical it is like developing an ego. You begin to refuse sounds that are not musical and that way cut yourself off from a good deal of experience.

whatah: would u please post the PKGBUILD
Hakoon: no, firefox isn't fast enough , actually I feel its very slow, latest mozilla releases are nearly as "fast" as firefox is.
dp: yeah, dillo is very fast but as you said lacks css support and probably much more, other alternatives you mentioned are console based.
aCoder: I dont' expect any browser to be as fast as dillo, actually if its anything near dillo I'll be satisfied. If I have to stand the slowness of firefox to get advanced features other than basic tabbed browsing and good rendering capabilites then I'll prefer just having those basic features
Would anyone please post a PKGBUILD

GTK-Webcore would be nice, if it weren't dead.
Offline
no, gtk-webcore isn't completely dead. Looking through the mailing list it seems they are only a 'little inactive'. However no releases done since 0.5, development is done (very slowly) in cvs.
Offline
Good to here, because there seems to be every indication that Webcore rocks.
(Mmm... Must learn C, C++... Redesign Skipstone around webcore... )

Finally a web browser that doesn't suck. Thanks for the PKGBUILD this owns.
