Custom kernel freezes at Decompressing Kernel

This problem has occured after I updated my abs package to the most recent 24-4. I only changed the architecture of the processor, the compilation is always successful, however, the generated VMLINUZ will not boot at all. I have no errors or warnings besides the "decompresing kernel, OK... now booting" then freezes

From what I have heard, other ppl experience this problem as well. Any solutions?

Which is a hugely important change, if you've chosen the wrong processor type in the kernel wink

I have the same problem, and I know exactly what type of processor I have, already posted it under the PAE kernel thread.

Re: Custom kernel freezes at Decompressing Kernel

Like I said, I have used the same old config for about 3 months now, and I have compiled the new kernel 3 times, I doubt picking the wrong config would be the problem.. I'll try to compile stock kernel settings to see if I get a working image..

Picking a wrong config can _easily_ render a kernel useless.

Picking the wrong Architecture will almost guarantee a kernel that won't boot on a lesser architecture.

This is a typical error for choosing the wrong architecture. Try and boot Arch on a i586 and you get the same error.
