runaway loop modprobe binfmt-464c after system upgrade

Hello everyone,

I have installed a working i868 system from installation cd. Then I used my configuration files from a arch64 installation and forgot to adjust my pacman.d/mirrors so that I upgraded the system with the wrong repositories (arch64). To rescue my system I used the installation cd`s quickinstall to reinstall the i868 core. That worked fine and my system is now usable. But when I try to upgrade (now with the correct repositories) then I can`t boot anymore. The boot process is stalled with the message:

`runaway loop modprobe binfmt-464c`

Therefor I reinstalled the i868 core again from cd. System boots as usual. But this is no satisfying solution. I don`t understand the error message but what I learned via google search is, that it must be connected to conflicts between arch32 and arch64. But where could it be?

Can you help me solving this conflict and saving my system.

All hinds are very much appreciated.
thanx
