Miro bombs each time I stop a video or try to delete it

Miro bombs each time I stop a video or try to delete it, I had a problem before because somehow I "succeeded" to overwrite some 64 bit libraries with 32 bit ones (libxv for example) no clue how I did it, I suspect installing some packages from AUR (maybe I didn't pay attention and downloaded a 32 bit package -- by the way pacman should not install that, right?)

In any case the problems that remains is that Miro crashes when video stops, I've seen somewhere on other forums a suggestion to change xine with gstrender (but that doesn't seem to work -- by the way what do I have to have installed "gstreamer"?

To answer your 32 bit question. When lib32 packages are being built, the original 32 bit package gets pulled into the build directory, then the lib32 package is created from it. When this is done, you have two 32 bit versions of the package on your machine. If you then do a pacman -U *pkg.tar.gz, you'll not only install the lib32 package, you'll also install the original 32 bit package over your systems 64 bit one. I've done it a few times with such minor programs as glibc and libstdc++5! It's always a good idea to use full package names. I rarely do though.

I'm not sure about your other dilemma other than trying to reinstall the packages miro depends on.

You don't have to mess up with 32bit library.

If you start miro with 'miro --xine-driver=opengl' (maybe you can put this as alias in your .bashrc), the problem will be gone.

This is a bug of miro.

Re: Miro bombs each time I stop a video or try to delete it

That's what I probably did! Being used with Debian and strict checking of apt-get (would never install 32 bit packages without complaining) I probably didn't pay attention.

Yes I tried to reinstall all the packages on which Miro depends and nothing has changed (I did that manually, is there a pacman command that reinstalls all dependencies?)

Thanks!

phabulosa, thanks, I will try that in a minute, I messed with 32 bit for other programs, mainly vmware (which I still didn't get running, but I will get there, if you have suggestions please see the vmware thread I started two days ago).

miro --xine-driver=opengl saves the day! Thanks a lot.

Since I'm here, is there a way to change the fonts in Miro, they are too small, gtk-qt-engine changes don't seem to have an effect on Miro.
