Wierd problem
Ive got a really wierd problem. And im not sure if its because of firefox or something else, but when there is any disk activity like downloading stuff from firefox or even editing things in nano, EVERYTHING freezes for a split second then goes back to normal when the disk is accessed. any ideas? Forgot to mention, im also using x.org

Make sure you have dma enabled on your hd (e.g. hdparm -d /dev/hda).

what harddisk do you have?
i have very similar trouble, when accessing a compact flash over my pcmcia-adapter while copying things
The impossible missions are the only ones which succeed.

its a western digital cavalier 40gb I forgot about dma so thats prolly what it was
