encryption with irssi/weechat + bitlbee

Hi everyone. I am wondering if it is possible to communicate via jabber using gpg with irssi/weechat + bitlbee? I've been searching google and was not able to find something useful. How are you guys doing this? Relying on a graphical jabber client?

judging by this, i would say it's not possible as long as nobody writes an appropriate plugin
