[SOLVED] LOCALE problem?

here is what I get from typing locale in my console

[root@HP-m8100y profile.d]# locale
locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory
LANG=en_US.utf8
LC_CTYPE="en_US.utf8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_US.utf8"
LC_TIME="en_US.utf8"
LC_COLLATE="en_US.utf8"
LC_MONETARY="en_US.utf8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.utf8"
LC_PAPER="en_US.utf8"
LC_NAME="en_US.utf8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_US.utf8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.utf8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.utf8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.utf8"
LC_ALL=en_US.utf8

I just noticed that my Chinese input methd (scim) is not working any more after some recent update.

What's going on here?
Thanks

Re: [SOLVED] LOCALE problem?

Check /var/log/pacman.log.  It's possible that the upgrade changed some configuration files.  The log will tell you.

Re: [SOLVED] LOCALE problem?

I have en_US.UTF-8. Check /etc/locale.gen.

Re: [SOLVED] LOCALE problem?

Hint: Check the logfile.

grep -B5 -A5 locale /var/log/pacman.log

enable them in /etc/locale.gen and run /usr/sbin/locale-gen
