[openoffice 2.4] remove the GTK interface

hi,

my openoffice.org install was updated to version 2.4 today. it seems that this version doesnt respect the OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP environment variables anymore. sad i have a very dark gtk2 theme, which makes using OOo via the gtk-interface very difficult. it's not only the interface but also the documents itself which are changed to my gtk colors. try editiing documents which look something like dark grey on black instead of black on white. wink

i know there is an option in OOo to change the default background of documents. this improves the situation but there are also settings for tables, tablebackgrounds, tableborders etc... neutral i dont want to set everything up til it gets readable again. i just want to revert OOo back to the default UI. what can i do?

as an alternate solution, i would be glad if someone pointed me to a darkish gtk2-theme with light green highlight-colors (something matrix/nerd/oldschool) which works with OOo. cool

Re: [openoffice 2.4] remove the GTK interface

OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP environment variables is still recognised - see the change in the "open file" dialog. but due to some issues found in the testing period ( see http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=36768 ) we had to change the autodetection behavior. you can still rebuild the package and remove the soffice.diff if you think your theme is worth the effort.

Re: [openoffice 2.4] remove the GTK interface

ok... thanks for the info AndyRTR! compiling OOo required me to replace my java SDK... so instead i did a little research and found out that OOo defaults to a pretty unusable color/iconscheme if your gtk-theme is "dark". when i used a more lighter setting for gtk the old OOo colors and icons came back automatically. now i wonder is there a way to override this "autodetection" of "darkness" by OOo?

Are there any thoughts about supporting again schemes?
In KDE oo is very ugly.

true smile I'm using kdemod and working with openoffice isn't nice thing. I think I'm gonna downgrade to 2.3 because I just back from gentoo and have enough of compiling process tongue

Re: [openoffice 2.4] remove the GTK interface

The KDE VCL plugin in OpenOffice hangs up because of a critical assertion triggered inside glib, so the KDE VCL is useless. It's an upstream bug in Openoffice, they try to use glib functions without initializing the glib type system.

help we need good programmers on earth, please ... lol

are they aware of that ? how do the other distros deal with that ?

by the way, i still don't understand why i could have used SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kde during 2 days without problem and it now i hit the glib bug ...
