segfault

Take a look at this:

[root@ankh vrok]# pacman -Syu
:: Synchronizing package databases...
 current                  [################] 100%      37K     6.4K/s  00:00:05
 extra                    [################] 100%     142K     8.4K/s  00:00:16
:: xorg conflicts with ttf-bitstream-vera. Remove ttf-bitstream-vera? [Y/n] Y
Segmentation fault
[root@ankh vrok]# pacman -Q pacman
pacman 2.8-1

It looks like a bug. It would be nice if it will be solved, thus I will be able to do something with my system. smile

Re: segfault

As a workaround try pacman -R ttf-bitstream-vera first. If it complains about dependencies try pacman -Rd ttf-bitstream-vera.

Re: segfault

Vrok, if you're still having the same problem, please tar up your pacman db and send it to me so I can reproduce the segfault.

# cd /var/lib/pacman
# tar c local | gzip >pacman-db.tar.gz

Thanks.

Re: segfault

Ok, I did as you said and submitted this bug. (http://bugs.archlinux.org/?do=details&id=1124)

Now everything looks to be fine, but I can do as you wish (pacman is still untouched).

Re: segfault

I had this same issue when running pacman -Syu, and after fscking with it I just installed XFree86 instead. Later on after having significant issues I did a base install and just added the packages I wanted, and I had no issues.
