bizarre emacs+gnome lockup

I just recently ran into a strange lock-up problem while using x-enabled emacs in GNOME, and I've reproduced it three times;

While inside of a buffer in emacs, hit alt-tab to switch to a different open window, and Metacity will completely lock up! Is this a common problem? How can one avoid it?

That's what you get for using emacs, you evil demon!

In all seriousness, try emacs-cvs. it has decent font rendering, but requires that you start it with an ugly command. I still hate it.

...okaaay...

Think I should report this as a bug? Or is it something that's well known and will not be fixed any time soon?

Re: bizarre emacs+gnome lockup

Well it may be a bug. I'll just add that I frequently use alt-tab windows switching from within emacs with no problems, but I am using XFCE.
