nvidia framebuffer

Hi there!

I recently spinned a debian instalation to check out some stuff, and I eventually modprobed nvidiafb. I have an nvidia 7700 512mb (A8JS) and my screen immediately switched to what seemed to be a native resolution - 1440x900. I can't do that with Arch... VesaFB allows me only 1024x768... Does it need to be enabled in the kernel config or is there another way to choose the framebuffer and resolution at startup time?

Re: nvidia framebuffer

i recently recompiled my kernel to include nvidiafb, and managed to get a nice 1600x1050 resolution, i cant remember if its included as standard, but the problem i had was it conflicts with the nvidia X driver so unfortunately i had to revert back to using the normal vesafb and stick back to my 1024x768 sad

I dont know if there is any sort of work around
