I have problem with automounting CD/DVDs and USB flash disks. I am using latest KDE from Arch repo, also hal and dbus but when I put some external storage device (cd, dvd, usb flash disk) sometimes it gets mounted and sometimes not. Also, when it gets automounted it tooks so long, maybe even 10 seconds before KDE mount deamon appears and asks me what I want to do (that is OK with optical drives, but USB???).
Also, I saw on some other distros that after it automounts some device, icon appears at desktop. Is it possible to do that here? Now it just puts icon in System > Storage Media.
Thank You!
Alex
P.S.
I checked wiki for both hal&dbus and autofs. Autofs is not working at all!

dunno why it's slow, it should 'just work' (does for me).
About the icons on desktop or panel, there is a kicker applet with media devices and for the desktop - right mousebutton, configure, behaviour -> device icons.

What is the applet? Or is it just panel configuration? I haven't managed to follow the directions . I use kdebase 3.5.9-1, freshly installed.
Grateful in advance, Llama
