A couple days ago I tried to do a fresh install of Arch64 using the FTP option with the latest install CD. I have used the exact same CD before in the past on the exact same system with no problem, but this time after choosing the ftp.gatech.edu mirror, I got a bunch of "missing file" errors and then when I went into the "configure system" section, all the config scripts were empty. I rebooted and tried again with the ftp.archlinux.org server and ran into the exact same problems...

By 'latest install CD' do you mean 2007.08-2? Try using some of the even newer ones (2008.03) as there have been problems in the past with FTP installs.

I had this problem as well last weekend: it was due to the fact that the new pacman doesn't use FILELISTS any more. Your best bet is probably to download the new CD with the new version or try a pacman -Sy pacman from your current disk (could get messy).

Whoa; I didn't know there was a newer install ISO - where can I find that??

The newest iso should be located in the 'iso' section of your favourite mirror on the 'Get Arch' page.

Wow; thanks! One question - why isn't the 2008.03-01 release listed on the get arch page under "bittorrent"?
