Gnome 2.22 keybindings for fn keys.

When I first installed gnome 2.22 on a fresh install, the fn keys on my laptop worked. Then I installed compiz and they stopped. In the gnome keybindings they are still listed but xev gives me things such as

KeyPress event, serial 30, synthetic NO, window 0x3600001,
    root 0x77, subw 0x0, time 5730004, (-835,637), root:(237,678),
    state 0x0, keycode 160 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 30, synthetic NO, window 0x3600001,
    root 0x77, subw 0x0, time 5730111, (-835,637), root:(237,678),
    state 0x0, keycode 160 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

Basically saying that it is not listed. I realize I could use xbindkeys and some script for them as they have keycodes, but I'd prefer to have gnomes osd and to keep it all in the DE. Just because I'm picky like that. Any suggestions?

Just an update. lshal -m reports the keys with their correct functions, but gnome still does nothing.

Today's update fixed it for the up and down keys, mute is still gone. Broke the clock applet too. Gnome 2.22.1.
