915resolution issue

First off an introduction. I am Tj, new to archlinux (not to linux tho) I just shifted from ubuntu after 5 years of that. I love Arch so far. I am just trying to get things to work first tho. One of the issues i still have is with 915resolution. When I boot up, i see the message, the screen resolution DOES change (whether its the right one or not i do not know), but when I boot up into X (GDM) its the same old resolution. I have a Dell Latitude D610 with intel915GM card, the native is 1400by1050, and currently I am stuck with 1024 by 768.
