MPD runs great, but it doesn't show my WMA files? I thought MPD supported this? Or am I mistaken? If so, do I need to install something more to get WMA files to play in MPD?

There is no (and based on http://www.musicpd.org/forum/index.php?topic=229.0 there will be no) support for WMA in MPD by default.
There is however a plugin which uses mplayer to play all kind of formats including WMA.
I didn't try it myself, but here is the link if you want to check it out: http://www.musicpd.org/forum/index.php?topic=1261.0

Alright, thanks for the info, my Google skills abandoned me a little today it seems. I guess I will just convert the few WMA files I have, I don't use mplayer so that would be quite a hassle...

Why would you think an OSS player would care to support a crappy proprietary format? MP3 I can understand, but WMA... That codec changes ten times in a year or so, and we all know how eager Redmond is to hand out information about its software and protocols, don't we?
If you want 'portable' music, use MP3.
