Making a installation/backup CD

So I finally have my installation exactly how I like it, but of course the urge to experiment is still huge.

Now I kinda want to "save" as in: if I screw up the system I don't want to start all over again.  The best way I can imagine is to make a live CD of my current system (which is on a dedicated partition) and then keep it safe.  If I then screw up my system I can just pop in the CD, install the system and be back where I was.

How does one do this in Arch?  I searched the topic and I read several threads in this bbs, but they mostly ended in orphaned webpages and custom kernels.  Any way to do this easily without having to recompile the kernel?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Making a installation/backup CD

As long as your system is not over a few (4, 5?) GBs, larch-5 and larchify could be what you're looking for. More on this topic here and in my sig.
