One friend of mine likes to try some GNU/Linux distro but he don't have an internet connection connection at home, i installed archlinux and all the packages that i had in pacman cache but arch is tricky to run without internet, i'm thinking to put opensuse cause it has a dvd full of apps but i'd like to hear your suggestion first.
If it ain't broke, broke it then fix it.

Perhaps Frugalware?

Debian? You can download all the DVDs, and they don't update often.

i second debian. i'm very biased though, suse gives me nightmares. bright blue and bright green nightmares.
archlinux - please read this and this — twice — then ask questions.

Faunos with 600 pkgs and boot from USB flash drive should give a good run at no internet....
With USB flash, portable capability to install more from another computer.

I agree.
All excellent suggestions. Basically, I would guide you toward the distros that come on a DVD as others have suggested already, simply because of the quantity of software provided off the bat.

Faunos has a DVD.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I think that faunos dvd would be the best option, cause its based on archlinux and will be simple to add new packages by need.
I would also consider suse, cause its the distro of choice for not connected machines. The debian dvd's are just too big for the need, and i haven't used something debian based for 1 year now. I would also consider fedora 9 and some ubuntu 8.04 DVD spinoff
