KDE - eject audioCD and DVD working and not working

I'm not a user of KDE, even though KDEmod is a tempting alternative, so I'm not sure what do adjust. I've installed Arch with KDEmod for my mother-in-law. As a XFCE user I feel a bit lost.

Problem:

The first audioCD or DVD which is used during a session is handled as expected, however after it's ejected a second disk won't be ejected. I get some message about "kio automount... something" not working properly.

In rc.conf hal and fam are added to the daemon section, and fstab looks like this:

none                   /dev/pts      devpts    defaults            0      0
none                   /dev/shm      tmpfs     defaults            0      0

#/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom   auto    ro,user,noauto,unhide   0      0
#/dev/dvd /media/dvd   auto    ro,user,noauto,unhide   0      0
#/dev/fd0 /media/fd0   auto    user,noauto   0      0
/dev/sda1 / ext3 defaults 0 1
/dev/sda5 /boot ext2 defaults 0 1
/dev/sda6 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/sda7 /home ext3 defaults 0 1
/dev/sda8 /media/data ext3 defaults 0 1

If using hal and fam I usually remove the cdrom and dvd options as above. Making those lines active doesn't change the behaviour.

Why does one disk work, but a second get locked until the session is closed? What mistake am I making?
