I've played with it. It's awesome. If only it had GTK brother:-(. However, I have found 2 problems. It wants to install dependencies that are already installed and the log it generates differs from pacman. First are pacman. Last 2 are Shaman.

Thanks In what sense dependencies that are already installed? Can you please give me an example?
About logging, you're right. I'll fix that soon

In svn, ABS2 support is ready Both in configuration and in the behaviour

Hello.
looks nice, but i found a bug.
Added the gui repro to install shaman. And well there is a newer version of firefox3. So i tried to install it.
That is what happend:
Shaman says:
"Alpm did not give further details."
And it wrote to stdout:
Error Thread Waiting.
"error: Konnte Datei 'firefox3-3.0b5pre-20080416-i686.pkg.tar.bz2' nicht von kdemod.ath.cx übertragen : Not Found
"
in english: could not download file xyz from kdemod.ath.cx.
pacman itself can install it. But it tries to fetch it from gui repro (pkg.eth-os.org/gui/i686.
shaman is also saying that is is from gui repro.

Ok another bug.
Now i tried to install arxin from gui.
And now it complains about qt-copy (have installed that local) in conflict with qt. But it should not install qt, qt-copy provides qt4
And again: pacman does it without any problems.

Hi Daniel,
Can you please try if latest svn version still has this problem?
If it has, please tell me exactly the steps to reproduce this.
Thanks

Beta 2 was released, featuring ABS 2 support. Full announcement here: http://shaman.iskrembilen.com/site/?q=node/8
PKGBUILD in AUR was updated, obviously upgrading is strongly recommended

Hi.
Great job! Thanks for all your efforts!
But I can't use it, i'm having 2 bugs:
1) internationalization, i'm using ru_RU.UTF-8 locale and shaman seems not to support UTF-8 output in its dialogs, for example if i'm doing an Optimize database action in Settings -> General -> Mainterance, the output is messy, so i have to run shaman like $ LC_ALL=C shaman
2) when i'm trying to update databases i'm getting error: "unexpected error" in shaman. Here is the console output of running shaman:
[n0ne@darkstar ~]$ LC_ALL=C shaman

Hi
This is a known problem with XFerCommand. XFerCommand is still not supported, if you disable it you won't experience this problem no more. We're working on that
About UTF-8, can you please provide me a screenshot?
Thanks!

Meanwhile, doesn't shaman support building from source?
I'm getting this message when trying to build mplayer from source:

Please, check permissions on /var/shaman/builds . Maybe your user don't have write access to it.

No such directory at all, no /var/shaman too.
After making this directories and chown'ing got this results:
Building operation has started.
Building mplayer...
==> Making package: mplayer 1.0rc2-3 (Sun Apr 20 15:52:22 MSD 2008)
==> Checking Runtime Dependencies...
Building mplayer failed!!
==> Checking Buildtime Dependencies...
==> Missing Dependencies:
-> libcaca
-> live-media
==> ERROR: Could not resolve all dependencies.
which indicates 2 problems
1) No internationalized output(have to use LC_ALL=C to get this one) once more
2) shaman cannot resolve buildtime dependencies?
Offline
Yeah, it should. Have you checked the box "Process dependencies from binary first" before starting the build?
Offline
No, I haven't, I thought it should build them instead of installing the binary version when this checkbox is checked.
Offline
No, it installs the binaries
Offline
It there any way to build dependencies instead of installing binary packages?
Offline
It works this way:
* Makedepends are processed from Binary only, and removed right after building.
* All other packages are installed from binary, then built from source. This assures that dependencies are satisfied, but actual dependencies are built from source afterwards.

drf, thanks. And what about UTF-8? Is there a bug tracker I should report to or something?
