I'm running KDEmod and I got Compiz-Fusion installed. There's a few problems though. I'm able to launch the fusion icon system tray utility, and I'm able to set the fusion icon to run at login. But, I'm unable to run the CompizConfig Settings Manager. I've tried running it from the settings menu and also from the fusion icon and neither works. I know that Compiz-Fusion is active because i have the desktop cube and wobbly windows but I'm not able to pull the config window to change any of the other settings. BTW, I'm running the x86_64 version of Arch with an Nvidia video card and the proper Nvidia proprietary drivers.

i'm also showing 16 desktops even though i only set it for 4 desktops. i can only switch between 4 of them though.

can anyone shine any light on this issue? i wish i didn't have to ask for help for what is probably an easily resolved issue, but if i knew then answer then obviously i wouldn't be asking. i've searched the forums and the wiki to no avail and i though someone here may have had a similar experience.

I'm not sure if I'll be much help, but the first thing I can think of would be to try to start it from a command line (with command ccsm). It might give some output with what a problem might be.
As for the the 16 desktop issue, I think that's an artifact of using the cube. Once you get to the settings manager you should be able to change it.
